"I am what most dentists would call "difficult". I extended this warning to Dr. Sverdlov, as I have done to all of my previous dentists. I had 11 cavities that needed to be done on all 4 sides of my mouth. In 4 visits Dr. Sverdlov took care of all of my cavities, pain free. She is excellent at making you feel calm and safe while you are in the chair and under the drill, as did her assistant Lisa. I feel very lucky to have had Dr. Sverdlov who understood my needs and did her job amazingly. Thank you Dr. Sverdlov! :)"

"I know this may sound crazy, but I actually enjoyed my visit at the dentist. Dr. Sverdlov was so calming, and gentle. She answered all my questions, and I never felt like she was rushing me out the door! (like most places these days) The staff was so nice and knowledgeable. When I came back again- they even remembered my name..as soon as I walked in the door.. I was greeted with big smiles .. I felt like I was visiting friends! "

"I am not normally one to write reviews, but my recent experience with Dr. Sverdlov was outstanding. I came in for a check-up, and knowing I had at least one cavity that needed to be filled. The check-up went smoothly, and the cavities were clearly filled with skill. I also presented her with numerous questions, all of which she was easily able to answer in a way that I could understand. Not only is Dr. SverdIov very knowledgeable, she is also understanding and sympathetic. I am normally nervous and uncomfortable at dentist appointments, but Dr. Sverdlov was very patient and reassuring. She calmed my fears and completed my checkup and fillings with a gentle hand. There was virtually no pain, and for once I am not anxious of my follow-up appointments. I sent my husband to Dr. Sverdlov as well, to get a chipped tooth fixed. When he got home, I was amazed. The color of the filling matched his teeth so exactly that I really couldn't even find where the chip had been. I am recommending Dr. Sverdlov to everyone I know!"

Crowns in One Hour

Dental crowns (or caps) have been used to fix broken or decayed teeth for over one-hundred years. For most of this time, gold crowns were the best choice. But what if you don’t want to flash an 18-carat grin?

After that, a way was found to make a tooth-colored crown out of porcelain fused to metal (PFM), much in the same way that porcelain bath tubs and kitchen sinks are made. The problem is that a PFM crown looks unnatural because, unlike your real tooth, this type of crown does not let light... read more

Dental Bridge | Viktoria Sverdlov | Dentist | Fair Lawn, NJ

Dental crowns and bridges have long been useful in correcting and protecting teeth. There are several different kinds of each and they have different functions.

A crown fits over a single tooth, when that tooth no longer is structurally sound. Full gold crowns are great to fit around molars. They have high tensile strength and work well next to the gum line. All porcelain crowns are great for the front of the teeth. They give off a nice shine and can be matched with neighboring teeth in color... read more

The temporomandibular joint (TMJ) is a junction of bones and ligaments located on each side of your head that allows movement of your jaw for speaking and chewing. The name TMJ comes from the two bones that enter its formation, the temporal bone and the mandible (also known as the jawbone). If you position your fingers in front of your ears and slowly open your mouth, you can feel your TMJ and its movement. Try it!

Over time, a patient may experience a disease linked with one or both of their... read more

Man needing root canal therapy | Viktoria Sverdlov | Dentist | Fair Lawn, NJ

Root canals get a lot of bad press. Even President Obama, in his first State of the Union address, said that the bank bailout was “as popular as a root canal.” While I’m sure that no one actually looks forward to getting a root canal, they don’t deserve all this negativity. Let’s look at some common myths about root canal therapy to try to separate fact from fiction.

Myth #1: Root Canal Therapy is Painful

The reality is that most root canal treatments are done because a tooth is already painful... read more

Dentures | Viktoria Sverdlov | Dentist | Fair Lawn, NJ

If you are losing teeth, or have lost them, you may have already confronted the idea of getting false teeth (dentures). This may not be appealing to you, as the image of dentures sitting in a glass next to the bed may not be something you wish to see or experience. The technology of dental implants may be a solution to your worries.
