"I have always been a bundle of nerves when it comes to dentists and dental work. I had a problem and called Dr. Smida's office on a Friday afternoon--Dr. Smida called me back immediately and an appointment was scheduled for Monday. Dr. Smida's calm and professional manner compiled with his genuine concern for his patients makes any situation easier to handle. He gives thorough explanations of what needs to be done and makes sure that one understands what needs to be done and that one is comfortable before proceeding. His knowledge and dedication puts one at ease. There is NEVER a guilt trip about "not being consistent" in prior dental care but makes it easy to make a plan to bring procedures current. His compassion, gentle nature compiled with his state of the art knowledge on dentistry leaves patients with a sense of security in whatever needs to be done. It is always about the patient! My fears were addressed, understood and handled. I would recommend Dr. Smida to anyone who wants a dental experience that breeds calmness, efficiency along with a personal touch that allows the patient to know that Dr. Smida is genuinely concerned and wants to be sure that his patients feel secure and in the end satisfied with his "gentle touch" care. I am relieved that I found Dr. Smida and would recommend him to anyone who is interested in cutting edge technology delivered with a calmness that is second to none, make an appointment today. "

"Dr. Smida was excellent. His office and staff are very organized, well equipped and professional. He saw me right away and every thing he promised me about the course of treatment, the procedure and the LACK OF PAIN was accurate, He was VERY gracious in the way he handled the billing. I would reccommend him to anyone. Pat "

"My routine check up with Dr. Smida unearthed a number of cavities that needed to be addressed. I am more than a little anxious in the dental chair, but was totally comforted by the doctors professional and caring approach. Dr. Smida's thoroughness in examination and attention to detail makes him an ideal choice! Post cavity filling I was concerned about one tooth. He immediately scheduled an after-hours visit to take a look. It's has been a week after some serious dental work and I feel great. Honestly can't tell which teeth have the fillings! I would definitely recommend Dr. Smida and his staff to all family and friends."

"I've had two implants from Dr Smida. The cost was daunting but looking back, I'm so happy I decided to go ahead with them. At this point I'd be hard-pressed to tell you which teeth they are because they seem so natural. "

Teeth and Instruments | Branko G. Smida | Dentist | Tiburon, CA

Are we smarter if we keep our wisdom teeth? I don’t know about that, but “wisdom teeth,” or the third molars, usually come in at early adulthood, or when we enter the “age of wisdom.” Third molars can be impacted or never come down. Sometimes they erupt or come down, but there is usually not room to be part of the whole mouth. They can vary in size and rotation, which can make them difficult to clean. In the rare instance that these teeth can fit in the mouth... read more

Oral Sedative | Branko G. Smida | Dentist | Tiburon, CATo sleep or not to sleep, that is the question. Sedation dentistry can be very helpful for fearful patients or for procedures that require extensive work without the patient feeling or remembering it. Sedation does not necessarily mean that you are asleep but it can help put you in a calm state of being. Oral consciousness and IV sedation can be used in general dentistry or in speciality offices.

Root canals get a lot of bad press. Even President Obama, in his first State of the Union address, said that the bank bailout was “as popular as a root canal.” While I’m sure that no one actually looks forward to getting a root canal, they don’t deserve all this negativity. Let’s look at some common myths about root canal therapy to try to separate fact from fiction.

Invisalign: What is it?

Invisalign is a series of clear alignment trays that you wear in order to straighten your teeth. Is it a true alternative to traditional metal braces? Somewhat. Is it a way to avoid the awful teenage years of having a mouth full of metal and a head-gear as a best friend? Definitely.

So how does this too-good-to-be-true braces thing actually work? First, have a consultation with your orthodontist to decide if Invisalign is right for you. If you decide to move forward with it... read more

Dental Implant | Branko Smida | Dentist | Tiburon, CAWHY SHOULD I REPLACE A MISSING TOOTH?
Whatever the cause may be, the healthiest thing to do when an adult tooth is lost is have it replaced. Tooth loss, also known as Edentulism, may create several problems with a person's oral, as well as overall health. Nutrition may suffer, as foods that were once enjoyed may become too difficult to chew. Remaining teeth may suffer as well, as they have to bear the load of the missing tooth or teeth. This ends up straining and possibly damaging... read more
