"I'm close to 70 and have been treated by this talented, I could even say gifted, professional for 15 of his 16 years in practice. Only once in that time when I worked in Alaska for a year and a half I had to see another dentist who complemented Dr. Mitchlers work.

Q. Is it true that chocolate stains my teeth? If so, what's the best natural way to remove tooth stains?
A. It is unlikely that chocolate will stain your teeth, but if you do find stains on your teeth brushing and flossing your teeth properly will reduce the amount of staining. A professional cleaning will be the best way to eliminate all of the staining. It will also be a good time to discuss the benefits of teeth whitening systems with your dentist.
Q. A friend told me that if my teeth hurt when I drink cold water, then I will most definitely need a root canal. Is this true, or is there some sort of middle ground where I might be able to get away with just a filling?
A. Sensitivity to cold can be annoying and frustrating. Determing the cause and options for treatment can only be done with an appointment since there can be several causes, some MAY result in the need for a root canal.
Q. How do I know if the enamel on my teeth is starting to deteriorate? I have a small spot on my tooth that is starting to yellow and become less smooth.
A. Do you notice any change in shape or size of your teeth? Healthy natural teeth will remain unchanged over a lifetime. I have 90 year old patients that still have the original, natural shape of their teeth. The surface of the enamel may smooth over a lifetime, but the shape should remain unchanged.
There are numerous conditions that involve the "small spot", treatment may or may not be needed. Consult a dentist.
