Questions & Answers

Anonymous Patient
Botox usually takes effect in 3-7 days. If the glabellar complex is treated for the "11" or frown lines some patients will have a "quizzical brow" ie. one eyebrow may lift up higher and the central forehead stays smooth. This usually dissipates with time about 2 weeks and is not dangerous. However, if it looks odd or bothers you , the physician can inject a small amount of Botox into the lateral forehead or lateral frontalis muscle in the temporal fusion line to settle that "tweak" down quicker. If your brow looks too low, this could be a "heavy feeling" that again usually gets better with time. Or, if the Botox was injected too low you could have an eyelid droop or true eyelid ptosis - in that case it will take longer to wear off ; but there is an eyedrop that is available to help if needed. If you are not happy with the result go back go see your physician and they can help correct the problem. Pain or discomfort from Botox injections is usually temporary and may cause a slight tenderness (like a bruise would feel) or cause a headache. Try Tylenol and ice. However, prolonged pain is not normal and you should see the physician ASAP. Hope that is helpful!! Mary Ann Martinez,MD Bee CavesDermatology Austin, Texas
