"Is it worth getting the flu shot this year for my parents? Are there any age related issues with getting the flu shot? I have heard that in some people it can actually make you sicker. My parents are in their late seventies."

Unless there are reasons that would prohibit them from getting a flu shot, it is recommended that they receive one. Usually, the risk of them not receiving a flu vaccine is greater than any potential risk.
